Spacemoji is a passive animation you simply watch unfold, a small cosmic scene assembled from the same characters you'd drop into a text message. There's no input required; the appeal is in noticing how well the illusion holds up.
It belongs to a growing corner of interactive and animated web apps that treat the browser as a canvas for unexpected visual ideas. If you'd rather have something to poke and prod, Black Hole Simulator goes in a different direction — gravity wells, orbital motion, and an accretion disk you can perturb with your cursor.
Spacemoji runs best on a larger screen, where the full animation field spreads out and the layered depth effect becomes more convincing. On mobile the scene still works, but some of the smaller emoji objects can blur together.
