Sandbox Physics
Interactive particle physics simulation with sand, water, stone, and plants.
About Sandbox Physics
Pour sand onto a canvas, add water, drop in some stone, and watch everything interact in real time. Particles pile up, flow downhill, erode, and settle according to simple physical rules — but the combinations you discover quickly become anything but simple. Plant a seed next to a water source and see what grows. Dam a river with stone. Set off a chain reaction you didn't quite plan.
This is the kind of interactive toy that rewards curiosity over goals. There's no score, no timer, no failure state — just a physics sandbox that responds honestly to whatever you build or destroy. If you enjoy this style of emergent particle play, Falling Sand offers a similar experience with fire and additional elements worth experimenting with.
Works best with a mouse on desktop, where precise placement makes a real difference — though touch controls hold up well for larger, looser experiments.
How to use
• Click element buttons to select materials (dirt, water, fire, lava, etc.) • Click and drag on canvas to place selected elements - hold mouse for continuous flow • Use tool buttons for special actions: brush, eraser, explosion, shapes, and environmental effects • Right-click to erase elements from canvas • Adjust brush size, simulation speed, pressure, and wind strength with sliders Elements interact realistically: • Fire burns wood and spreads to flammable materials like oil and gunpowder • Water extinguishes fire and turns to steam when heated • Lava melts most materials, ice melts from heat • Magnets attract metal elements • Acid dissolves organic materials • Virus spreads and infects other elements Special tools: • Heat/Cool tools change element temperature • Vacuum attracts nearby elements • Wind affects particle movement • Gravity can be reversed Use CLEAR to reset, PAUSE to stop simulation, SAVE/LOAD to store creations. Experiment freely - there's no winning condition, just creative physics simulation.
