Guitar Tuner
A real-time browser guitar tuner using your microphone. Detects pitch and shows whether each string is in tune.
About Guitar Tuner
Hold a note on your guitar and the tuner listens through your microphone, displaying which string you're playing and how far off it sits from the correct pitch. A clear indicator swings toward sharp or flat, so you know exactly which way to turn the peg. No app to install, no hardware dongle — just a browser tab and a guitar.
It works across standard tuning for all six strings, making it a solid grab before a rehearsal, a jam session, or any moment the guitar sounds slightly off. If you're into music tools that run straight in the browser, this fits right in alongside apps for making and exploring sound. For something a little more experimental after you're in tune, Violent Theremin is a fun detour.
Works best in a quiet room — background noise can confuse pitch detection, so muting the TV first goes a long way.
How to use
This app helps you tune your guitar by listening to the notes you play and identifying what pitch it hears. 1. Allow microphone access when prompted by your browser 2. Play a single note on your guitar near your device's microphone 3. The app will display the detected note name and frequency in Hz 4. If the note shows "sharp," tune the string down (loosen) 5. If the note shows "flat," tune the string up (tighten) 6. Keep adjusting until you see just the note name without "sharp" or "flat" 7. Use the "start/stop an E note" button to play a reference E note through your speakers for comparison The app continuously listens and updates the display in real-time. For best results, play single notes clearly and avoid background noise. Standard guitar tuning from lowest to highest string is E-A-D-G-B-E.
