Hushlock
A candlelit night-locksmith deduces the lost combinations of antique strongboxes — by reading the tumblers, and by listening. Set gemstones into the brass dial, pull the lever to test the lock, and read the glass cutaway: gold tumblers mean a gem is in the right well, silver means right gem, wrong well. Spend a precious listen on the brass ear-horn to learn exactly how many of one gem hide in the answer. Crack each box before your roll of picks runs out, recover the curio inside for the shelf, and chase the daily Strongbox of the Day.
About Hushlock
Hushlock is the after-hours of an antique curio shop, and you are its night-locksmith. People bring in heirloom strongboxes whose gemstone combinations were lost decades ago. Your job is quiet and patient: deduce each box's combination, crack it open, and recover the treasure inside for the shelf. Warm wood, brass, candlelight, and the soft music of tumblers seating one by one — restoration, not a heist.
Read the tumblers, then listen
Set gemstones into the wells of the brass dial and pull the lever to test the lock. A glass cutaway above the dial shows the truth: a gem in exactly the right well seats its tumbler gold; a gem of the right kind in the wrong well glints silver; wrong gems do nothing. That is the whole language of the puzzle — every test narrows the answer, and the brass clipboard keeps your notes so you can reason it out. When deduction alone won't do, press the brass ear-horn to the door and listen for a single gem: the lock hums once for each of that kind in the combination. The listen tells you how many, never where — and you only get a few, so spend them like coins.
One shift, one jam
Boxes arrive back-to-back, each a notch harder, and your only lives are the brass picks in the velvet roll — one per test. Crack a box and the lid swings open on a glow; run the roll dry and the lock jams, ending the shift. Score rewards the locksmiths who crack fast and quiet, so a clean three-test open beats a lucky brute-force.
The shelf, and the Strongbox of the Day
Every box gives up a curio — a music box, a locket, a pocket-watch, a sea-chart — that rises onto your Recovered Curios shelf over time. And each day brings a single Strongbox of the Day: the same box for everyone, scored on efficiency, with a shared register and a streak to keep. Light the candle, take up the picks, and listen.
How to use
Each strongbox hides an ordered combination of gemstones, one per well. Tap a well on the brass dial to select it, then tap a gem from the velvet tray to drop it in (or tap a gem first, then a well). Fill every well and pull the brass lever to test the lock — that spends one pick from the roll. Read the glass tumbler cutaway: a gem in the exactly-right well seats its tumbler GOLD; a gem of the right kind in the wrong well glints SILVER; wrong gems do nothing. Each test is logged on the brass clipboard as your deduction worksheet — read it to narrow the answer. Stuck? Tap the brass ear-horn, then tap one gem to listen: the lock hums once for each of that gem in the true combination (it tells you the count, not the place). The horn has only a few valve-stops, so listen wisely. Seat every tumbler to crack the box and recover a curio; run out of picks and the lock jams, ending your shift. Each box you open is a little harder, and one jam ends the run — so crack fast and quiet for the highest score.
