Every deal in Freecell is winnable — that's the quiet confidence behind this classic solitaire variant. You move cards between eight tableau columns, using four free cells as temporary holding spots, working to build the four foundation piles up from ace to king by suit. The constraint is tight: only one card per free cell, and every move counts. Most deals reward patience and planning over luck.
The responsive design means it works on a phone, but a larger screen is genuinely better here — the full eight-column tableau needs horizontal room, and cramped columns make it harder to track card sequences at a glance. If you enjoy logic-heavy card and puzzle games, this fits right in. Mahjong Solitaire covers similar ground if you want a tile-matching challenge instead.
No account required, no timer by default — just deal and think. A single game typically runs ten to twenty minutes, making it a solid pick for a focused break at a desk.
How to use
Move all 52 cards to the four foundation piles (top right) in ascending order by suit. **Controls:** • Click and drag cards to move them • Cards automatically snap to valid positions **Game Areas:** • 4 free cells (top left) - temporary storage for single cards • 4 foundations (top right) - build suit sequences from Ace to King • 8 cascades (bottom) - main playing area with face-up cards **Rules:** • In cascades: Stack cards in descending order, alternating red/black • Move multiple cards together only if they form a valid sequence • Foundations must start with Ace and build up in the same suit • Use free cells strategically - space is limited • Only the bottom card in each cascade can be moved to foundations **Winning:** Complete all four foundation piles from Ace to King to win.
