About Chess Opening Explorer
Pick an opening — say, the Sicilian Defence or B20 by ECO code — and a full move tree appears on an interactive board. Step forward and back through variations, read the theory behind each line, and bookmark the ones you're drilling this week. With over 3,600 openings catalogued, it covers everything from mainline classics to sharp sidelines most club players have never faced.
It works best as a companion to active play. Spot a line that surprised you in a game, look it up here, and trace exactly where the theory diverges from what your opponent played. Progress tracking lets you see which openings you've studied and which are still untouched. If you want to put that preparation to use straight away, Chess lets you test lines against an AI opponent without leaving the browser.
This is a games category reference tool — keyboard-friendly, no account required, and well-suited to short focused sessions between matches.
