About Checkers
You move your pieces diagonally across an 8×8 board, hunting for chains of jumps that clear your opponent's checkers in one clean sweep. The rules are simple enough to explain in thirty seconds, but the positioning decisions — when to sacrifice a piece, when to race for a king — give the game real depth. It's a classic for a reason.
Checkers sits comfortably in the games catalog alongside other strategy-minded picks. If you enjoy the tactical push-and-pull here, Chess is a natural next step, offering the same kind of board-control thinking with a more complex piece set.
The game plays entirely in your browser with mouse clicks, so nothing to install. It works best on a laptop or desktop where you can clearly see the full board — though it holds up fine on a large phone screen too.
How to use
• Click on one of your pieces (dark squares) to select it • Click on a highlighted empty square to move your selected piece • Move diagonally one square forward, or jump over opponent pieces to capture them • Captured pieces are removed from the board • When you reach the opposite end, your piece becomes a "king" and can move backward • Kings can move diagonally in any direction • You must make a jump if one is available • Chain multiple jumps together in a single turn when possible • Goal: Capture all opponent pieces or block them so they cannot move • The game alternates turns between you and the computer • Red pieces move first • Plan your moves carefully - captured pieces cannot be recovered
