About FactorishJS
Your first task is simple: punch some iron ore out of the ground. From there, FactorishJS pulls you into a satisfying loop of laying conveyor belts, feeding smelters, and wiring up assemblers until raw resources flow into finished goods without you lifting a finger. It runs entirely in the browser, no install required, built on an open-source MIT-licensed codebase.
The appeal is the same one that made factory games a cult genre — that itch to close one inefficiency, then another, until your sprawling production floor finally hums. If you enjoy browser-based strategy and building games, this scratches a very specific corner of that space. Expect to spend real mental energy on throughput math and belt routing.
Controls are mouse-driven and approachable; the steeper learning curve is figuring out production ratios, not the interface. It plays best on a desktop or laptop where you have screen space to spread out a growing factory floor.
How to use
• **Goal**: Build an automated factory by placing buildings, managing resources, and setting up production chains • **Mouse Controls**: - Left click: Place selected building or interact with objects - Right click: Harvest buildings/ore (shows progress bar while mining) - Hover over buildings: Shows tooltip with inventory info • **Keyboard**: Press R to rotate building direction before placing • **Tool Belt**: Click items at bottom to select/deselect them for building. Selected items show transparent preview when hovering over placement area. • **Building Management**: Left-click buildings with inventory icons to open their inventory window. Drag items between building and player inventories to transfer resources. • **Electricity**: Assemblers need power to work. Connect water wells → boilers → steam engines using pipes to generate electricity. • **Automation**: Set recipes for assemblers using the recipe button in their inventory. Use inserters to automatically move items between buildings and belts. • **Save/Load**: Use the save/load buttons at bottom to preserve your factory.
